The species list start empty, but users have the ability to add to their species list by importing regions or single species from PlanIT Geo's master list or uploading their own .csv list.
The species list will show up when creating/editing trees inside dropdown menus. View and manage your species list by navigating to the Admin panel and clicking the Species option.
Species in the list have 4 attributes
- Common name
- Latin name
- Active
- Boolean value dictating whether the species will be visible in tree details
- Region
- Climate Zone a species is found in
Add single species
- Navigate to the My Species page (Admin > Species)
- At the top of the page select ADD SINGLE SPECIES
- Complete the Add a Species form
- Common name - A common name for the species
- Latin Name - A Latin name for the species. Must be unique
- The add a species form is populated with every species that is in the master list and not in the tenant list.
- You can still add a species even if it does not appear in the master list
- SAVE the new species
- Verify info and CONFIRM
Add species list
- Navigate to the My Species page (Admin > Species)
- At the top of the page select ADD SPECIES LIST
- Choose either Factory or Upload
Factory List
- Choose a region or get the entire master list
- All species will be checked by default, but you can include or exclude species by checking them in the list
- Click Add List to add the checked species to your species list
Upload List
- Select a valid .csv file saved on your computer
- Only required/used columns are common name and Latin name
- Latin column header can include ‘latin’, ‘scientific’, or ‘botanical’ and be recognized
- If a row has data, it should have both common and Latin name
- Special characters are likely to cause issues
- All species will be checked by default, but you can include or exclude species by checking them in the list
- Click Add List to add the checked species to your species list
Edit Species Data
- Navigate to the My Species page (Admin > Species)
- Click on a row in the data table to view that species’ info
- Click Edit Tree Species
- Change desired attributes and click Save
